New CC Feature - Stats Profiles!

We have an exciting new feature at College Confidential, personal Stats Profiles for our members. (This is a BETA version, which means we're still testing and improving it.) Now, you can post your colleges of interest (and your status at each), your academic stats, as well as relevant extracurricular information. One of our most popular forum topics over the years has been, "What are my chances?" Starting or participating in one of these discussion has typically involved lengthy typing, omitted items, etc. CC Stats Profiles to the rescue! This is a great new way for you to organize your college admissions data to get input from other CC members. Here are a few key features:

- You can enter as much or as little data as you want
- There's an easy way to copy your data for pasting into our forum
- Data items have a "private" box next to them if you don't want to share them at a given moment.
- You can edit your Stats Profile whenever you want as long as you are logged into the College Discusson Forum; you can even delete your whole Stats Profile if you wish.
- You can search all Stats Profiles
- If you create a Stats Profile, your CC forum profile will have a link to it

In addition, you can see which CC members (who have completed profiles) are looking at particular colleges and, if you wish, network with them through the forums or by private message (if they have PMs enabled)!

IMPORTANT PRIVACY NOTICE: Please do NOT enter information which could be used to specifically identify you - high school names, unique awards, etc. This information is publicly viewable, as is the information in your forum posts and member profile - please choose wisely when posting any information about yourself. While we have taken appropriate steps to conceal the information you flag as "private", due to the unlikely but possible chance of a security breach we suggest you do NOT put sensitive information in those fields.

Please help us improve this new feature by posting in the Stats Profile Suggestions and Stats Profile Bug Report threads!

Note that since this is brand new, using the "search" feature won't net you very much right now! Soon, though, it will be a great way to find CC members with similar interests and college choices.

Nice idea - the search for other people feature is a tad creepy though.

That's why all info is optional, and why we put in the "private" switch so members can turn access to individual data items on or off. The privacy of our members is important to us. We know our members want to network with each other, too, so we tried to provide a tool that gives the individual member maximum control over his/her info.

We don't think it's related - we're going to be making some server moves that should clear up the occasional lags. It's kind of odd, and we're still troubleshooting it.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding the section, but shouldn't "College Class Year" go past 2011 and not down to 2007?

What about the functionality to post your stats and then your decision to the institution (accepted, rejected, waitlist) for students in the class of 2010 and earlier?

This could also give prospective students an idea of what it takes to get into the school.

Interesting idea... do you think there would be much interest in past applicants posting?

I know that on the USC board, there are about 5-10 current students who frequent the boards and give advice/answer questions to potential applicants. As one of those current students, I've received a few PM's asking me about my stats, so a centralized place to have all that info available would be much appreciated by all involved.

It also seems to fit with the intent of better informing students about their chances, so I don't see why NOT to include it.

Appreciate the consideration.

I agree with sfgiants, its very useful to see the results of past applicants. Seeing whether someone is applying to a particular school doesn't help much unless we know if he or she got in or not. Its a great feature though, keep up the good work Roger.
