You need a separate area for "theater and drama majors"

In the Arts forum, there is a post,which is part 10, for theater and drama majors. I suggest that this warrants a separate forum for theater and drama majors and should be taken out of the arts forum.

yes! there's one for musical theater but not theater? that doesn't make much sense... theater is a pretty big major.

I'm guessing that there isn't a separate forum b/c the Musical Theater area get little traffic.

While it's true that MT is a sub-type of theatre, it has its own forum on CC because of the sheer number of posts relating to the subject. The MT discussion began almost 5 years ago here at CC. It has historically been one of the most popular subjects on the CC site. Straight theatre has had considerably less discussion. However, I agree that it would be nice for straight theatre to have its own site. I think that the CC community would be best served by having a new, dedicated theatre forum. I would not be in favor of making MT a sub-forum of a new theatre forum. The MT forum gets far more traffic than the theatre sub-forum on the arts site. Therefore, I think that MT should continue to be separate.

Many of us CC old-timers read both the theatre/drama threads on the Arts forum and the MT forum. There is quite a bit of overlap. I do think that having a forum specifically for theatre might help new readers find the information they are looking for more easily. I've read quite a few posts from newcomers on the MT forum complaining that no one is writing about straight theatre or that all of the information they've seen on a thread on the MT forum pertains to MT (duh!). I think a lot of people see the word theatre in the musical theatre heading and believe they are going to a general theatre discussion.
