Problems sending PMs

I'm wondering whether anyone else is having the problems I'm having sending PMs. If I type a fairly long message directly into the text box, then when I hit "send" I get an error screen, saying that I will have to log in to send messages, and everything I've typed is lost. Of course, I had been logged in, but somehow was logged out during the time it took me to type the message. I've tried typing message into MS Word and pasting them into the text box, but then the messages are truncated at the first special character (', ", -, etc.). So now I paste in the messages, but go through and replace all the special characters by hand (delete apostrophe, type in another, etc.). This is very cumbersome.

Does anyone else have this problems? Is there a better solution?

I am having problems too, but they are taking a different form. I typed a fairly long message into Microsoft Word then copied and pasted it into the CC text box. I then sent it to another poster in the form of a P.M. She notified me that my message had been cut off. When I checked the copy of the message in the sent items box, I discoverd that only a very short portion of the message had been sent. I tried to re-send the message multiple times this morning and have found that even less of the message is getting through! Only around 5 lines of text are being transmitted. I'll have to go back and see if my message is being cut off at the first special character (',"-,etc.) just like NYMomof2's.

What is going on???

This has been happening to me for quite a while. The messages are always cut off at the first appearance of a special character.

This is most likely caused by you not checking the "remember me" box or the cookies for the CC website are corrupt, remove "ALL" the cookies from your browser and restart it, make sure you accept "ALL" cookies that come to your computer from this site as well.

This issue is related to the collation setting in MS Word and the charset it uses, there are special characters that MS Word uses that aren't typically accepted on all websites, even tho the character looks identical to you visually by eye in both places, the way it is encoded backend in the actual program is different.

Do you know exactly were it got cut off in the msg to the other user and what character was right before it?

Thanks for your help, Anthony. I'll try your suggestions.

The characters that give me problems are ', ", - for sure, and possibly ! and ?. I was cutting and pasting from MS Word.

One thing that's worked for me when using Word (2003) to paste on other websites:

Go to Tools>AutoCorrect Options. Click on the Autoformat as You Type tab. Look at "Replace as you type" and uncheck the box that says " 'Straight quotes' with 'smart' quotes." Most websites don't like these "smart" characters. Then when you cut and paste, the regular characters are there and may not get truncated.

AnthonyG,
Thanks for your suggestions. I took a look at the truncated messages and can still see no reason they would have been cut off. There were no special characters immediately before the message got cut off. Not even a comma! The odd thing is, that I've been sending P.M.s through CC for years and this is only the second time this has happened. The first time was around 6 weeks ago. My message got cut off right after my salutation. In that case, it did cut off at the first comma. With the P.M.s I had trouble with on this latest occasion, around 6 lines got transmitted. I tried multiple times to resend the message and it got cut off in the same place each time. As I said before, there was no special character right before the message cut off. So...I'm still mystified.

I've sent a long PM cut and pasted from Notepad rather then MS word. It worked beautifully. I will also try the "remember me" feature tomorrow to avoid the timing out.

Thank you.

Why didnt you send it from the cut&paste of ms word?

Using a notepad cut&paste isnt going to tell me if the issue is solved or not, i need you to do the exact samething you did when the issue occured.
