Unconfirmed Private Message Receipts (21)

I have built up these 21 messages that the BB claims have not been read, but today I had my suspicion confirmed: I received an answer to a message which is still said to be unread. Can you confirm that this list is unreliable and should be ignored? Thanks.

Maybe the recipient refused to acknowledge the receipt request--I usually do.

Um, how does that work? I thought the design was to mark it "read" when it was read. Do we have a choice?

If I get a request to reply to receipt of delivery, in email or in private messaging systems like CC's, I usually see either of two boxes I can check, one "accept" and one "decline," or something like that. And I usually decline. That doesn't mean I don't read the message I receive, it just means that I don't send back the receipt.
