I come here for the social connection. People on CC often share my values and concerns. Not true for my friends, many of whom have no children or quite grown children.

The day I hear from all of my colleges, send in my deposit, and move in - will be the day I go cold turkey.

"I have no idea what my mother will talk about once I go off to college"

Premed123, my son's words exactly!

I am quite taciturn by nature -- but after my first taste of CC, I cant get me to shut up! It has been more than a year now. *Shakes head sadly*

Eh, I think the Chicago Trib readers are now tipping the server to "busy" status. I think Roger needs to double the RAM again

RE: #36 I actually have given up CC for Lent the last 3 years. . .just to prove I'm not really addicted.

RE: #45 LOL--Guess what happened to me this year while I was giving up CC for Lent?

That's weird. Last night I was waiting 30 seconds a refresh with a "server is busy, please try again later". During the day it's really, really fast...

While CC HAS been incredibly helpful--a wealth of information!--there is a downside. It has been very hard watching kids get letters/calls/e-mails from their favorite programs while NOTHING arrives at our house. Sometimes I think it might be better NOT to know when those notices start coming out. On the other hand, there are always folks to commiserate with, and the happy news is fun to share!

I use to quote NPR, now it's CC. It's even more "up to minute" fun stuff to talk about.

lol...

HelpMeGetIn just sent me this link, and I was just like "Why did you send this to me?"

It gave me a little thrill to see my name in print. ^_^

That article was great...so, so true. At first when I found it I came on maybe once a day...now it seems I'm always on.
