Bothered by Ad on CC

I just read the thread posted in the Parent Cafe about Tyson dropping Labor Day in favor of a Muslim holiday. This is the link -- Tyson Plant Drops Labor Day for Muslim Holiday

When I clicked on the thread, the ad across the top was for a dating service. I read several other threads, then went back to this one and the same ad was across the top.

I am bothered by an ad for a dating service on a college counselling website. Just doesn't seem to fit the the purpose of the website.

It may not fit the purpose but it keeps this free site open. Anything short of porn is ok with me. I can't say as though I even notice the ads.

The ads aren't a big deal and the mods can't do anything about them. Most people don't even notice.

The ads just respond to key words in the text. Therefore, most Muslim threads have a Muslim dating service ad on them. It just happens.

I have a mac and use Firefox/Safari. Firefox has an "adblocker" add-on that is really wonderful. It applies to both browsers. I never get any ads, ever.

How about you don't go browsing them? Or not go on this site? The mods cannot do anything about this, and maybe if you had some sort of ad-blocker, this would not be a problem.

I've seen some intersting ones on here too. They just normally made me laugh.

CC uses adsense, which determines its own ads to post on a specific page given the keywords on the page. CC can block the keywords for this, but that's too much of a hassle, and hey, the revenues gained keep the site open.
