Why do the forums stall out when loading?

For a couple of weeks now, I've been getting into forums and the loading stops. Am I the only one having this problem? It doesn't happen on any other online site. I use a Mac.

me too.
me thinks that the servers and fiber optics are too jammmed.

Parent's forums are very slow and that's why I am here on community to see if mods have an explanation.

I am getting this message:

"The server at talk.collegeconfidential.com is taking too long to respond."

I think it is an overloaded system.

Slow is not the word. Times out, hangs up. Happens to me in all forums, at least for the past week. Seems fine in the early am est.

We are aware of the issue and are taking measures to improve performance on the site. We have a hardware upgrade happening in about 2 hours that should help improve performance.

It always seems to go "out" just when I'm making a post.

Getting very frustrating. Getting worse. I get busy messages, 503 service temporarily unavailable messages, maintenance messages. Now, I have lost several posts. At first it was just a short one here, days later a short one there. It times out and then the message box is empty. Today, a long heartfelt post is gone forever, lost to an error message.

I have a PC, and this happens on IE and Firefox. I was trying different computers, different internet access points and now different browsers. And since an upgrade yesterday, the error messages are different but the problem is worse.

This is a great service and it is free. But I would be willing to participate in a PAYPAL donation campaign to help if needed. (Did this on another great board once)

PS I LOST THIS ONE TOO TRYING TO POST. AT LEAST I HAD DONE A COPY SO I COULD PASTE IT IN CASE. .
