the administrators have done that before for people,
but it would probably be easier just to make a new account and stop using the old one

Good afternoon. We will generally allow name changes for users who initially used their real name and want to use something less identifiable. However, we try to limit username changes for members who have posted 15 or more times, since it could potentially cause replies by other members to lost context (such as when another members replies to your post with, "Hey, student3234, I agree with what you said", but you have since changed your username to UTech2001).

And I did want to agree with fizix2 that creating another account entirely is an option, though the original account must never be used again.
