Student types at CC, and drinking?

Any comments on the "feel" of the student body at Conn College? Have been reading that it's heavily "preppy" and wealthy - is this true, or an exaggeration? We're not poor but we don't drive Volvos, and DD is not the preppy type so wonders if she'll fit in.

Also have read that if you don't drink you'll often feel excluded. Another exaggeration, or a real concern? Our D does not drink and we're happy about it; now wonder if this means she'll feel left out in the social activities. Anyone know more about this?

My son is a sophomore at CC and does not drink. This year he has a single and is on a substance free floor and is really enjoying himself. He attends the dances and hangs out in his friends rooms and is on the track team. Non drinkers are in the minority but they are out there and I think your D should be fine once she finds a few friends to socialize with.

I would not describe myself as welthy nor preppy, but I have found my place at Conn. Yes they are rich students, but there are middle class, lower class and everyone between. I would say that we have a variety!
Also, substance free lifestyle and substance free living dorms are popular and they have a thriving comunity! I know plenty of people who don't drink and know how to have fun.

ecl, My daughter is a freshman at Conn this year. She is not a drinker and has found a whole group of girls who are not drinkers also.
