Millstone Power Plant Concerns

Been looking into colleges for my soph and we really liked what we saw about Conn College. Then we realized it's close proximity to Millstone Power plant. What are the concerns? Does anyone know what administration says about this? Any input?

millstone

Yes, it sucks that Millstone is in the area.. As it sucks that there are 104 reactors at 64 different sites around our country. Most nuke plants are concentrated east of the Mississippi River. You'll be hard pressed to find a school on the eastern seaboard not near one. Conn College is probably about 7 miles away as the crow flies. At least Conn is located on Rt 32, the prime evacuation route to head north, should anything happen. What else do you want to know?

As a senior at Conn, I have never heard any concerns about this. We are directly across the river from the largest submarine base in the united states (probably more of a target than millstone). Regardless, it is not something I would worry about. Like details said, there are many nuclear reactors around the east coast. As far as it being a target--I do not think Waterford is a prime spot for any sort of issue. You cannot predict such issues. Perhaps Tufts' proximity to raytheon, or Trinity's location in the middle of what is essentially a combat zone, are more dangerous but the prospect of danger is not a reasons to pick or not pick a college.
