Welcome to the Cornell 2009 Community

This is something new at CC - we've enjoyed the communities of hopefuls that developed within each college topic, and shared the joys and sorrows as the letters came out. We've decided to create a special space for those CC members who plan to attend Cornell in 2009. Hope you enjoy it, and good luck in the fall!

Do I stand a chance?

Cornell ag and tech is my first choice for early decision next year. I have a 3;97 and I have taken the most demanding courses availabe. My first round sats were Math 640 and verbal 650 and 680 writing. I am taking the SATS again on my birthday next week and hope to increase these scores. I have worked every summer at the NYS enviromental services 5 rivers program. I even did a fellowship there. EC's at school are spanish club and editor of the school newspaper before I was kicked off for plaguerizing an entertainment article. Since this incident, I have been blackballed by the NHS. and can not list either as an ec. I have had a couple of months of hell since.
I am really scared about this, Cornell is my only real selection since I want to be a vet and I just love the school. I don't really have any interest in a plan B college. Do I stand a chance? What advice can you give me about ecs. I feel awful about the newspaper and the NHS rejection. I wonder if this will jeopardise everything I have worked for. Will colleges find out , how could they? I am really looking for some words of truth that can guide me from here.

I'm in a Catholic private high school, and have been in it since I was in Kinder. I'm a junior and our entire class is of 29 students. I am not in the top 10% however, my current GPA is 3.8...most of my classes are AP, and my school curriculum stands out from other school curriculms' for its bilingual education/integration, student involvement. Ever since elementary school, each subject is advanced a year. I want to study marketing, communications, and natural resources and conservation, and music. Do I stand a chance in Cornell?

Yeah, I'd kind of like to know how I would do too. But it seems there's a long line to wait before being critiqued...
