My sister, URM and legacy, was rejected from Cornell but got into and now attends Northwestern, which is usually ranked about the same.

personally, i have only heard of the reverse: people who got accepted at Cornell but rejected from similar or slighty lower caliber other schools. Granted that's based on a small sample of people.
