Hey jakeiscool.
Well, where do I start?....All freshman live on north campus. You would be assigned randomly to a dorm unless you choose to be in a program house or a townhouse. Since there are so many options, check out the housing link below. Housing - Residence Halls
Here you should be able to find out basic information about all the dorms and program houses. You can also find out room layouts and pictures. This site has a lot of information if you explore a little. If you still have questions or want more specifics let me know!

Hey alamode...
In general FWS will meet MWF for about 50 mins each day or they will meet MF or TR where each class will be an hour and 15 mins. Either way you end up with about the same amount of class time.
Each FWS is 3 credits.

alright so currently my schedule is
FSAD 1140 (3 CR)
FSAD 1250 (3 CR)
PSYCH 1101 (3 CR) or HD 1150 (3 CR)
FWS (3 CR)
PE
do most people take about 15 credits first semester? so that would be one more class, right? (it would probably be Stats or Art History)

Hey alamode.
Yes, I would say for your first semester 15 credits is just about right so one more class would be perfect.
This is for anyone.....just remember you need 12 credits to be considered a full time student. For your first semester, also be sure not to take too many credits. You want to have time to adjust to the school and make sure you do well in your classes.

Hey jakeiscool.
It's really hard for me to answer that question, because I think it depends more on your major than your school. I believe each school has a mix of more relaxed and more stressful programs. This also depends where your personal strengths are. If you are very strong in math and science you might find engineering to be very easy. However, if your strong in english your probably going to find an english major in Arts and Science is better for you.
Since you are going for pre-med you might want to condsider a major like biology, chemistry, chemical engineering, biological engineering, or HBHS because these majors will have a lot of overlap with pre-med requirements. This being said you can really major in anything you like and still be pre-med.
In terms of stress....I don't really know your personality. I would look up some majors your interested and look at the classes you will be required to take. Then I would choose the major where you feel as though you would enjoy your classes the most.
If a specific class stands out to you that you would like to know more about let me know and I'll try to help.
Good luck.

heyy thanks again for the great advice ambassador.
im really considering the HBHS in human ecology.
do you know anything about this? like how the students liek it? the workload? class sizes etc. will medical schools care about which school within cornell you went to? or do they just look at you as a Cornell student, as a opposed to a Human Eco student, an Engineerign stud, etc

Does Clara Dickson Hall have a billiard table? If not, where is the nearest one?
Pool tables are always a great place to just escape to and play a quiet game on.

more questions!
-would you recommend psych 1101 or hd 1150? i'm guessing hd is the smaller class, and now that it seems as though psych has gotten harder, hd might be the easier class as well. but psych seems so legendary i feel like i should try to take it?
-is there any space underneath your dorm room bed to store things?

Hey jakeiscool.
A lot of kids that want to be pre-med major in HBHS. If you want to see some of the requirements for the school check out the website: HBHS: An Introduction
I have heard really positive things from the students about the major. Most seem to enjoy it. I don't believe the workload is too bad, but you also remember you will be taking science classes and such. These can require extra time for labs, etc.
I can't tell you extactly what medical schools will be looking for. However, since there are so many pre-meds in this major I'm assuming that medical schools respect it. Like I said before....there are english majors that are pre-med, so it's really just important you get all the recommendations for pre-meds completed. All pre-meds will take the same courses and that is the type of thing the med schools will look at.

Hey flymaster.
I brought a tv that I believe was a 17" flat screen. It was a good size tv because it fit on a small area. Then again....I also had a friend who had a tv that must have been about 50", but it took up a huge space.
I would recommend one on the smaller side if it's something you want.
Enjoy.

Hey ricey.
If I remember correctly they sent me something in the mail with my housing stuff about renting fridges and microwaves. If you want to get your own fridge it cannot use more wattage than the fridges you can get from the school. Wait for the housing mailing because it should have a lot of information.
You can also check out the house website for more information about dorm stuff: Housing - Housing Home |
