harder to get in thru ED or RD?

i couldnt find the acceptance rate for the ED students( ex: 1000 applied, 300 got in thru ED)

i hear many people say that it is harder to get in thru ED because many ED students have higher scores than RD applicants, or least really good scores already.

i thought on the other hand, because the cornell website says, because ED, theres more enthusiam, easier to get in and thought students with high scores wouldnt want to bind themselves to a school.

some schools have a lower acceptance rate for ED than regular. I want to know what it is for cornell.

any thoughts?

the acceptance rate was 33% for ED and 17% for RD i think in 2007. ED is definitely easier to get in.

perhaps, but i doubt that it would make the rate almost double.

It depends on the college. For Hotel, your chances are 1 in 5 RD and ED. Same odds either way. For A&S, it is easier to get in ED (1 in 3 ED as opposed to almost 1 in 5 RD) based on last years class.

im trying to find out stats for human ecology.

because i dont have as competitive unweighted gpa, i have a 3.74. i see many ppl have around a 3.9 unweighted.

and my acts arent that well either. my first act was a 29 and im hoping in sept+oct to somehow raise it to a 31 or 32
i probably wont have a 700+ in math2.

this is why im so concerned if the quality of applicants are higher in ED than RD.

Some people told me to aply RD beacuse i will have more time to write the essay and able to take the DEC tests.

What do you want to study in HumEc? Acceptance rates vary greatly by major.

human ecology, human biology, health & society.

i checked thier stats page, it says overall, 1000+ applied and 400+ accepted,it was about 37% acceptance into HUMEC, but it doesnt state how many ED applied and how many of those were accepted, nor do anywhere talk about the SAT/ACT etc of the ED applicants.

all the univserity shares is the overall average scores.

i wish the breakdowns are availiable. =|

ED is definitely way easier to get in. And the quality of applicants isn't higher, if anything it's probably slightly lower than RD, since many EDers are people who are depending on ED to make up for some other lackluster aspect in their application (everyone I know who EDed from my school fits in this category, but that may have just been because of the way our college counselor thinks)
