Summer Credits At Another Institution?

I was thinking about taking summer classes at Rutgers over the summer (since I'm from NJ and I'll be home over the summer) and I was wondering if it would transfer over to my Cornell transcript and be accepted as credit toward graduation. I want to cut back the amount of credits that I'll have to take sophomore year, since I'm already somewhere around 20-22 credits based on my planning. (I'm Pre-Med/Pre-Vet and considering a minor in International Trade & Development, just for some background information) Would Cornell take it? I've heard stories about people taking classes in other colleges if they didn't pass the one at Cornell, so I figured it might apply to me as well? Then again, these were alumni, so maybe this isn't a common practice anymore?

Just wondering if anyone knew the answer to this. Thanks.

Don't know much about this, but I'd talk to the dean beforehand and make sure that, assuming your grades are good, you'll be able to transfer your credits.
