Class Schedule.

I am intrigued by the class schedule at Cornell. My son may be interviewing with a recruiter that came to the SF Bay Area, so I was wondering if anyone can tell me what are the advantages an disadvantages with this scheduling. I never heard of any other college having it.

thanks in advance

I am applying to Cornell College this year and when I talked to the admissions rep for my area who attended there said some of the pros and cons

Cons
-A short term so a lot of hard work, you need to be able to fully dedicate yourself to that class.
-Deadlines are days or hours not weeks at a normal college with a semester plan.
-Have to plan out your schedule carefully-all language together or else you will forget.
-A lack of connections between classes.

Pros
-One class at a time, can fully dedicate yourself to a single class (can be a good or bad thing)
-Everyone is let out of class at the same time (except for special occasions) so very easy to do activities and meet with friends after class.
-Uninterupted class time-stop time is the stomach growling for lunch.
-Very esay to do field trips, study abroad and internships in the 19th term or whenever.

Colorado College also has a similar program that you might want to check out. I am visiting Cornell College and doing a interview soon (within the next week or two so if you have any other questions PM me)

ocaat (one course at a time) IS intriguing. my S seems to like to really focus on one thing, dig down and to do it 'just right'.

BUT

I was wondering about the extra deadline pressure that I am seeing above. Also, what happens when the student is ill? It seems like the recovery period would be oppressive. My S has been known to get sick - with severe allergies.

any cornellians care to comment?

....what do you call youselves, the OCAATs?
