if u apply UNDECIDED does it INCREASE ur chances of getting into CORNELL
or is it better to declare the major u want...
OR
declare a NONCOMPETATIVE major and just change to the major u want later...

They don't decide based on ur major b/c everyone usually changes their anyway...and I wouldn't say you should pick one just b/c its easy since you have to write why you are interested in it/why you picked it...and they can supposedly "tell who is being genuine and who isn't"...

that said, I wouldn't say it would be wise to apply for something you haven't shown strength in (unless it is the ONLY thing you r interested in)...

your major does affect your acceptance. however, you shouldn't choose a major just because you think it will help you get accepted. colleges can usually see when someone does that because you have difficulty justifying your reasons for that major. you are better off selecting the major that you want to keep/really enjoy. i think applying undecided shows that you are unfocused, but at the same time very flexible...i dunno

i declared the major i wanted to take, just because it's something i've been interested in for as long as i can remember. i chose it because i love it so much and it was just really easy to show passion for it. don't just pick something because you think it might increase your chances of getting in, colleges aren't dumb. they'll be able to tell when you're pulling a "when harry met sally".. the fake enthusiasm thing. you've also gotta show prior interest in it.. so picking something arbitrarily won't help you.
