MIT Rejection: What about Cornell ? Chance an international student !!

Does my rejection by mit reflects on my future decision in Cornell!
I am a international student from a developing that hasn't provided stdnt's to MIT for decennies!
What I kinda lack are numbers: I only heard about this last April so I had no time to prepare: 657 Toefl PBT, 2170 SAT, 800 SAt French, 790 Sat Math lvl2, 760 Sat physics!
I am the top in 1000 students with a near-perfect GPA!
I have been exploiting the scarce opportunities I found in my environment; I founded a chess club and a table-tennis.
I participated in national math olympiadss and was ranked top 10 but unfortunately i missed the chance to get to the IMO!
I qualified for the PAMO(african olympiads) and have national awards in mth games and kangoroo)!
I also have participated in many commnity service projects and was dedicated to them along with winning tournaments in tennis !

Would my Personality subsitutte my weekness in numbers?
What do you think: IS it a sure rejection?
BTW: I am planningto study engineering !!
Thanks

Your numbers aren't that bad assuming you're saying top 1000 people in your country. The only thing that's hurting you is being international and you can't really fix that. You still have a shot at Cornell, I guess you'll know in 14 days :P

Iry not to be too discouraged. Remember that MIT admits less than 5% of its international prospective undergraduate applicants:

(quoted from How To Apply To MIT | MIT Admissions )
"How MIT Considers International Applicants
MIT receives many applications from very smart and talented international citizens. From this great pool of candidates we may only take a small cupful. Every year more than 3,000 international students apply to MIT, and we can admit fewer than 150.

We limit the number of international students we can accept because of our generous financial aid. MIT is one of the few schools in the world that offers need-blind admissions and meets their full financial need......"

Question.

I am an international student and ine the next year i would like to apply to Cornell university. Could you tell me what requirements are and what statistics( e.g academic achievement, Toefl scores etc.) do i need. Another thing is financial position. I know it is very expensive as well. How did you get over this? Any financial support and how much is it to be able to attend. Where are you from?
