I'm from Toronto, Canada
I am Asian-Canadian
I am going to be a senior this fall, and I am enrolled in the I. B. program at my school
I am applying to Cornell ED. I am still undecided about which school to apply to, but I am considering Human Ecology, CAS, or School of Industrial/Labor Relations.
my SAT I score: 2090 (630 CR, 710 M, 750 W)
SAT Subject Tests: Taking Bio E and French this October; I am almost fluent in french and I enjoy learning about biology
GPA= 3.6/4 (my school calculates it like 80% and higher is a 4, 70-79 is a 3...etc)
Rank: Not too good, my school also has a normal program stream, so they rank us IB kids with them; as a result, the normal kids get high 90's while we IB kids are in the low 80's becuase of the rigor of our program. Thus, my rank is mediocre, I would even say my average is only higher than 50% of the kids in my school
I am President of my school's competitive dance team, director of finance for a student- organized charity, vice-president of my local church's youth group, and co-president of my school's business club.
I also have much volunteer/work experience in terms on summer internships with Accounting firms and Pharmaceutical companies; these were obtained thanks to my parent's networking
Me recs should be stellar, I have an amazing relationship with the two teachers i have in mind.
I'm still working on my essay, i have quite a lot of creative ideas to write about!
I see myself more as a creative, ambitious, and "leader-esque" person instead of someone who has the stellar marks; does cornell like this "type" of person? Or do they prefer a book-smart person?
Hopefully in my essay I will convey the message that I am a leader in the making, with high ambitions and the right work ethics and morals; is this favorable?
If any input can be made, that would be absolutely incredible; coming from an international country, it is rather difficult to receive different perspectives--thank you in advance!!!
