chance thread

I really want to apply to CAS, but I'm very nervous so I just wanted you guys to tell it me straight. I might apply to ILR because of the higher acceptance rate, but I really want to apply to CAS and major in economics and hope to become an ibanker.

GPA: 3.6 weighted, 3.5 unweighted school only offers 5 APs and no honors courses so weighting doesn't really help.
Rank: I believe 13 out of 70, but I could be wrong I'm having a very strong senior year so it might go up very soon.
SAT: 660cr and 600m, just retook it in october and I think I got 670cr and a 650-660m

Freshman Year: GPA 88.57
Sophomore Year: GPA: 90.69 1 AP: Euro (5)
Junior Year: GPA: 93.33 1 AP: US (4) and 1 college class and one honors class
Senior year: GPA: 100.4 2 APs and 2 college classes

I'm just going to copy and paste my resume from naviance below

Your ECs seem pretty good and the fact that you've taken 4/5 APs offered also is going to help you... Keep up the good work!

I would apply ILR, atleast as an alternate... your grades are a little low for CAS but URM definitely helps

.

I would apply to CAS as a the primary school, and ILR as the secondary. Your grades are slightly lower than average, but your EC's make up for it. You seem to have more to do with CAS, so definitely choose the college which best fits you.

Funny story actually, my brother wanted to apply to CAS 2 years ago, but instead applied to Hum Ec cause of the higher acceptance rate. He got deferred cause they thought he wasn't a good fit, and should have done CAS. In the end, he got in, after talking to the admissions people. Moral of story: go with CAS, and ILR as backup.

I would not recommend ILR with thinking that ILR would have higher acceptance rate. Your first choice is your best choice so choose the most attractive college to you

ILR is very specific as a major so applying to that school can be a disadvantage. ILR looks for specific kids that fit with the school. If you want to study economics, try looking at Cornell's Applied Economics and Management school! That seems like a better fit for you
