Understanding AAP ED Admissions

Hi everyone!

I may be writing this because I'm freaking out with the ED deadline coming up, but I do have a few questions about AAP specifically.

I'm applying to the art department, and from my school I am the first to apply to this department. My GC feels good about my application but I'll be worrisome at least until decision day haha.

Anyway, would I be right to say that admissions to Cornell's AAP is similar to Carnegie Mellon's art/design school admissions?

Does AAP generally defer, or reject?

If my portfolio is really strong, would it be especially helpful as an ED applicant for choosing Cornell over an art institute or a higher ranked program such as Carnegie Mellon, if I manage to show a good fit in my application?

Thanks you guys for dealing with my desperation. I'm putting a lot of faith into my portfolio... (my grades/scores aren't too too bad, but they are right at the 25th percentile so hrurr)

Thanks everyone have a wonderful day (:
