my interviewer didnt discuss my chances only talked about scenery and beauty of campus. He did say it was selective (duh) and it is a great place to go to (duh again, i applied ED)

Was i that bad in my interview/informative meeting?

Anyone else apply for the college of arts and sciences?? Does anyone know if Cornell reviews your application only with the other applicants applying to a specific college? Or with all the colleges?

SciMan, I don't think so. My interviewer kind of rehashed her college days to me. Everyone is different. Don't think of it as yourself lacking. Think of it as the person not really knowing what else to say!

Baegopa, I'm HumEc. Each school reviews on its own, though.

Don't read too much into the interviews. They are highly variable from interviewer to interviewer, so the admissions committee doesn't weigh them too much. One interviewer might want to just talk about the school, another might want to ask the student why he/she applied to Cornell. In this way it isn't exactly fair if they were very important, so I am confident that they don't make that much of a difference. In all honesty, it might be more important to actually schedule the interview, than what actually happens during the interview.

With that said, my interview was pleasant and I thought if it had any impact, it would be minutely in my favor.

Does anyone know if Cornell sends out likely letters for early decision applicants?

Well, I am officially clueless. Not only did my S receive the email and (gasp!) open it, but he replied, set up the interview, went, came home, napped, and played 2 hours of video games before telling me. And that's only bc I mentioned keeping an eye open for an alumni email. Call me irrelevant.

In any case, he said it was very casual and low key. I hope so, since I'm not sure he shaved....

@cheese,

A giant cake and fireworks (dont know if thats illegal but oh well) if i get accepted and a giant box of tissues and friends who also got rejected over to share the giant box of tissues with if rejected

@ mom,

the interviews are pretty low key and no fancy or special prep should go into it. I showed up in board shorts and a hawaiian looking surf shirt and sandals.
Guy before me had spiked hair, nose and ear rings, and had a hoodie on with his hood UP the whole meeting. (We are not in NY if u cant tell by clothing lol) Not shaving is not that bad for an Imforational meeting. In fact thats prob norm across the board.
Only Requirement: Dont show too much skin (not just females) and ur good to go

Dont stress i think its pass/fail. Accept meeting or not to check commitment lvs. No biggie

@ kaitlyn What are likely letters? only heard of athletes getting them

@ sciman athletes are the only ones I'd hear of getting them too but I just got one from Purdue. I know it's not an Ivy League but I didn't know if they did something similar. And what if I haven't gotten contacted for an interview??? Now I'm nervous!

interview just depends on location. Apparently my area has lots of applicants and alumni so alumni meetings are widespread. If there are little alumni in ur area, you just wont get a meeting. Wont be penalizing u. Just missing out on "this school is great" and if ur lucky "u'll get in for sure" and "beautiful scenery"

did any of you visit/head to an info session? do you think this helps your cause in admissions?

Okay! Thanks! How much does an alumni letter of recommendation help? No interview just a letter.
