ED to CALS as an Animal Science Major on a pre-vet track!

3.9 UW, 4.3 W GPA with 12 AP's by graduation
Class rank 10/340
1460 SAT (760 CR, 700 M)
800 US History, 780 Bio-E
Senior Schedule: AP Lit, AP Calc BC, AP Gov, AP Physics B, TA for AP Econ, Yearbook

National Merit Semi-Finalist, National AP Scholar, USC Book Award

I'm yearbook editor, volunteer at a shelter, work 10 hours/week at a vet's office, Big Brother Big Sisters, other misc. things.

I felt really good about all the aspects of my application except for my Cornell Supplement. I procrastinated it til a few days before it was due, so it was solid, but definitely not my best work. I also wish my SAT math score was a bit higher, but there's nothing I can do about that. I'm banking on the fact that I'm objectively qualified, extremely passionate about my major, from an underrepresented state(Utah of all places), and that both my parents went to Cornell.

Good luck to all you other ED applicants! Hopefully just a month of waiting left

https://decision.applyyourself.com/?id=cornellu

Here's the link from the website they used in the past years. I think they just updated it because when I first checked it a week ago it said "March" for regular applicants from last year. Now it says

"Thank you for completing your application to Cornell University. Early decision applicants will be able to view their admission decision on Thursday, December 13, beginning at 5:00 p.m. (EST)."

Does anyone know what we are supposed to do as far as alumni interviews? Will they contact us if they have an alumni nearby and expect us to be interviewed, or do we have to contact them and request such an interview?

If we are just supposed to be waiting for Cornell to contact us, when does this usually occur?
I'm stressing out a bit because no one's contacted me yet and I don't want them to think I'm trying to avoid an interview...

Also, is it more likely that they will email us or call us? Thanks.

The guy that's doing my interview on Sunday called me, and he lives about 30 minutes away, so I assume the area alumni cover for interviews is fairly large. I don't think it really has any impact on your application and I doubt interviews mean that they're interested in you, they're more of a Q-and-A kinda thing.

Cornell's interviews are more informational. My kid was admitted without an interview. The flip side is that you shouldn't turn down an interview if offered, or it may show lack of interest.

Alumni interviews are given solely on the basis of available alumni's in the area. Not everyone gets an interview for this reason and it won't be counted against you, so don't worry if you don't.
