WiFi, etc?

Here's the story: I'm a big tech geek, which means I need to be around the internet 24/7. Does cornell have all-encompasing wifi or just hot spots here and there? How fast is the connection? I was also wondering about what's provided in the rooms (cable tv, telephone, etc).

From what i've heard it's pretty much all-encompasing wifi. Each room comes with a telephone. Rooms don't come with tv's, and if you want to watch cable tv, you have to pay extra. (That's if your dorm even has the ability.) You would have to bring your own tv. (Or have to have a capable pc/laptop)

There's cable available in the communal areas of the dorms though. I dunno about the speed, there's also a monthly bandwith limit which is easy to avoid as long as you steer clear of movies/music. However, for your multimedia needs, there's the local intranet, which is obscenely fast--movies/music come down faster than you could ever imagine. There's a good thread where these matters were discussed.

Limewire allowed at Cornell?
