oooh im excited now. now im maybe 85% as opposed to 65% sure i want to room in balch!!! now i just have to decide whether i want a double or a single? i want a double to get a roommate that could potentially be fun and would probably be a better room to have tons of ppl over than in a single, but i want a single to have my own space and in case i get stuck with a really ****ty rooommate. i think i could deal with the limited space, especially if balchs rooms are so much bigger. any thoughts?

I'm in a huge single in balch now. its worth being around girls for it as long as you are socially functional enough to make guy friends on your own.

So, I visited Balch today. First i was thinking that wouldn't be what I wanted. but after spending some time in the other dorms and walking around campus and then talking to several girls living in there now (I hung back after the tour), I really think that is what I want for next year.

So, now my question is. If I select that as my first choice on my housing app, what are my chances of getting it? Some of the girls said it was practically a sure thing because they don't even get enough girls who choose it to fill it. Also, I know there are a lot of singles there, but if I select double as my first choice for style of room, will that hurt my chances of getting into Balch. I am fine with a single, but would prefer a double if possible.

Thanks for the help!

I'm definitely going to request a single in Balch next year. I wanted a double, but after visiting I've heard so many recommendations for singles.

and to clear a common misconception: YOU WILL STILL MEET GUYS IF YOU LIVE IN BALCH! i remember one time we had a fire drill, it seemed like more guys were exiting balch than girls... lol

What's the likelihood of getting a room in Balch if I submitted my housing request thingy yesterday?

really good chance ^

remember, they have to fill about 100-200 rooms with girls, so you can definitely get a room there if you really want it

outoftown, you just have to submit your application by MAY 1 there is no first come, first server, but you MUST MUST MUST (!!!!) submit your application by then. after that, it is really hard to get a room that you prefer. as long as you meet the deadline, you should be fine

is there a way to maximize my chance of getting a single??
my first choice would be a single in balch...but if not i'd like a single somewhere else..rather than getting a double in balch...
