My BioAP413 prof said that she will still be holding lecture and lab but will have a makeup for those who can't make it. In fact, she advised us to stay home unless we're close to the lecture hall.

Looks like the school is shutting down. All of the libraries are closing.

On a side note, I saw a couple of people going to class on ski's. They were definitely having an easier time than the rest of us.

I actually made my 11:15 lecture although I had to spend literally 50 minutes walking from West Campus to the Vet School (on the extreme East Campus). It's a 30 minute walk on a sunny day and today it took 50 minutes. Unfortunately, due to the number of crazy premeds in the bio class, it was actually 75% full so I didn't gain an advantage by making the effort to go to class.

"Cornell University will close effective 12:30 PM Wednesday, February 14,
2007. Classes will end for the day at 12:05 PM. The University is expected
to remain closed until 5:00 AM Thursday, February 15, 2007 subject to
further reconsideration later this evening. Please check the Operating
Status Web Page
(http://www.cornell.edu/about/status/)
for updates through the evening.

Staff who reported to work today will receive compensatory time-off.
Details of this and other payroll related issues will be covered in detail
through a separate communication from the Office of Human Resources on
Thursday.

TCAT and Tioga Transit buses will begin special schedules at 12:45 PM.
Details may be found at the special conditions web page
(http://cuinfo.cornell.edu/SpecialConditions/).

As you leave the campus this afternoon, please take extra precaution for
pedestrians who may be walking in the roadway and allow extra time for a
safe journey home.

Was class cancelled because of the snow? Just curious; I'm an incoming freshman and people keep making cracks about Cornell's weather...

Yes ... due to the "snow emergency" and classes are delayed today, Thursday 2/15 as well.
Quote:
Cornell University will delay opening until 9:00 AM Thursday, February 15, 2007. This allows our crews extra time this morning to clear sidewalks, parking lots and roadways on campus. This also provides extra time for outlying roadways to be cleared.

The first classes will begin at 10:10 AM.
