Primary/Alternate admission option

What is this primary/alternate admission option (Cornell app supplement)? and I noticed that both the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences(CALS) and College of Arts and Sciences offer Biological sciences as a major...so what's the difference?

Regarding the Biology Major - the requirements for the Major are identical. The distribution requirements for CALS and for CAS are different. You would be an ideal candidate for primary/alternate since Bio is offered in both colleges. You should look at both of the college's websites to see which one you are the most comfortable with for your primary choice. If you apply ED - it is binding if you get into your alternate choice college.
