Is this true about Dickson I heard from someone that stayed there for a reunion that it's disgusting, moldy, dark etc. Is this true?

If you "search this thread" on CC for dickson, most people say it's the best dorm on campus for singles and that it's overall a great dorm.

I lived in Court, and I was often jealous of Dickson.

Depends on what you want. If you prefer newer/nicer and don't mind smaller/quieter, then you're going to prefer CKB/Mews over Dickson, which is older and not as nice. Dickson is very social however, and I spent a lot of time there with my friends even though I didn't live there. Conditions seem to vary within the building... some parts were ok, others were perfectly fine.

If you go to the facebook groups for Dickson - you can see the floor plan. It looks like there is one larger room (triple?) for about 20 singles? Newer/nicer would be good - but it sounds like Dickson is not a bad deal. Also if you go to the Cornell 2012 class website there is a section for hallmates and housing and you can see who will be on your floor.

I was in Dickson and met some of my closest friends there. Although the facilities are the nicest (it's not unlivable either), it makes up for it by being very, very social.

I lived there for the year, and it's not moldy, dark or disgusting. Well, save for the late night hours on party nights. It's ain't brand new, but it's generally clean, well lit, and you can't beat a dorm made up of mostly singles rooms.

definitely not bad/old in any way, i lived there...as for west campus dorms besides the ever growing new ones, they are a little more towards the moldy/bad/old side but even then not bad at all worth complaining, and i mean now theyre disappearing for the new ones...and the construction is almost if not done so quiet is coming back

| Yeah, there were 4 showers in mine and 4 stalls, I think. They were never all being used at the same time.
Dickson isn't gross, but my room was tiny, which is still a fine trade-off for having a single. |

It is useful to know about dickson that there are no overhead lights, all you get is a desk lamp. So be sure to either bring a lamp or be prepared to buy one.
