Hotel/Motel/B&B Opinions/Help

Where do you stay when visiting Cornell??
Why are the hotels/motels so expensive?

Does anyone have any suggestions on any type of accomodations for moving in weekend-August 22? My son is going to already be at Cornell and I just completely did not think of making a hotel reservation for my husband and me.
We are driving from Pittsburgh so I even went back to the city of Elmira.

We have only been to Cornell three times this year and stayed at the Statler, so I don't have a good feel for the surrounding area. I telephoned every single hotel/motel I could find and after much laughter, was told that they have been sold out since Cornell mailed the early decision letters in December.
The list of B&B is so overwhelming-any opinions?

Also, after much difficulty, we booked the following hotels for some fall weekends-any opinions?? Country Inn, Super 8, Homewood Hilton

Thank you so much for any information.

You booked all three? Are you and your husband going to stay at all three hotels?

She said that she booked them for some fall weekends. Meaning yes, she will stay at them for different weekend trips.

edit: just noticed there is another, more complete thread on this topic. disregard

you're coming in from PA...why stay there the whole weekend? is your child really one of those who become easily homesick?

many kids dont even come with parents...and those that do many leave once the kid is moved in...

Sorry, just seems like she's staying for an awfully long time. I thought this thread was like an update to the previous one...just telling us she did in fact succeed in getting the hotels she wanted.

Thanks for your responses.

For some reason my initial post got posted twice. I emailed the monitor to have one removed, but that does not look like it happened.

No, though it made me laugh, my son is not a homesick type
He is going to be at Cornell August 1 without the majority of his stuff, so we need to bring his dorm items up on August 22.
As for the fall hotel reservations, he is a member of the football team so I made reservations for all of the home games.
Thanks again and sorry for the confusion with the two posts.
