| Cornell Quirks
I found this topic on the Yale forum and thought it would be interesting to see some of the Cornell answers:
What are some quirky and little known facts about the university; the kind that only students would know of or experience?
Thank you!

When it snows, which is pretty often, students go traying by stealing trays from dinging halls and sledding with them down the slope.
Happy Dave, a quirky cardswiper at a central campus dining hall, is a campus legend. Many unconfirmed rumors about the significance of a "double-tap," his signature move of tapping your card twice on the counter after swiping.
People always praise cornell's ice cream, but fail to mention it's not FDA approved because of its fat content.
Gorge jumping is big.
Dragon Day is when Engineers and Architects come out from hiding and enjoy a day full of shenanigans including drinking, dressing in strange costumes, and depicting a battle between a huge wooden phoenix and a dragon before setting them on fire and dancing around them.
A WWII history course involves going to the professors house and trying out some of the guns from the time period.
Louie's Lunch, Hot Truck, and Nasties are meccas for hungry drunken students.
People spell out messages with rocks at the bottom of the gorge to advertise to people crossing the bridge from above.
It's not specifically cornell, but you can basically get a lunch of free samples by standing in between two dueling asian booths at the pyramid mall food court.

This is a great thread. I hope more people reply that have been at the 'nell. I am transferring and I think information such as this is much more interesting than what is found on the website and presumably what will be revealed to us at orientation.

riot-proof housing on north built in the 70's hahahaha.
also, URIS Hall, the ugliest effing building I have ever seen is standing in the middle of a supremely gorgeous campus.
Lastly, risley's reputation on campus (regardless if it's deserved or not) is notorious to say the least.
