FAQs for the Cross-Admitted, Undecided, Future Cornell-Students

If last year's experience was any indication, in another week this board will be bombarded by students trying to come to some sort of decision as to where they will spend the next four years of their life.

In the interest of not only helping admitted students make the decision that is best for their own particular circumstances, but also to limit thread inflation, it might behoove some of us regulars to start digging up old threads featuring oft-repeated topics and posting links to them below.

Some questions that will undoubtedly come up include:

-- Will I freeze to death and become ostracized from society at large by spending four years in Upstate New York?

-- I really want to attend Cornell, but is it as stressful and cut-throat as all the rumors make it out to be?

-- I was accepted to school X but know want to transfer to school Y at Cornell. Is that possible as a freshman?

-- I really want to attend Cornell, but the need-based financial aid package at comparable school Z is a lot better! Is there anything I can do?

-- How good is Cornell for students interested in business/English/engineering/economics/pre-med/philosophy?

-- What is this Tradition/Meinig/Presidential Research Scholars/Dean Scholars
all about?

-- What is Cornell's social scene like? Is it too fratty? Do people just sit around and study all day long?

-- I'm torn and can't decide between Cornell and Berkeley/Duke/Notre Dame/Penn/Dartmouth/Chicago/Northwestern/etc. Help me compare and contrast the schools!

And so on...
