I would love to see how many of your attitudes on drinking change after a year in Ithaca.
And yes, much alcohol will be consumed during o-week.

That was my point. I was completely sober as a freshman, didn't even think about drinking or going to parties during orientation week, and had one of the best experiences of my life. There is a place for virtually everyone.
I do not go to parties or drink very often, but I am glad that I opened up to the many facets of campus life, including the party scene. For one thing, I made friends with people whom I never would have met otherwise.

When do the parties usually start? I'm not planning on partying until my mom leaves (Saturday), I won't miss out will I? Haha.

Any transfers care to share their experiences at O-Week? I would think that transfers are likely to party more
Oh a side note, man my timing is so bad. I used to live near Quebec where the legal age is 18. Then before I got to enjoy that I moved to Toronto, where it's 19. And now I'm going down to the States right after I turn 19, but the limit there is 21!
Oh well, as if we ever followed the age limit |

You don't have to drink to enjoy the parties. I didn't. Whereas most people are having fun because they are oblivious, the sober people can have fun laughing at how stupid their drunk friends are acting. Trust me, it's amusing. I usually find going out and drinking is just about being with friends anyway, so the actual consumption of alcohol isn't necessary to have a good time.

the actual consumption of alcohol can matter if you're playing pong or other games...

I think up to $500 fine in the city of ithaca (off campus), as it is a local law, whereas underage drinking is a state law and much less serious in NY (I think max $50 fine with $25 being typical/and or a 4hr class), but if you get popped for both, the open container will be the one they really get you on since Ithaca controls how much they can fine. Much more extreme fine than NYC for open container.
