Plum Tree and Miyaki are right in Collegetown. They're both good, but I preferred Miyaki.
There are 2 McDonald's. One by the mall, so you could use the bus to get there. The other is on Route 13 way past Walmart. Can't easily get there without a car.
I had a friend at Cornell who, if we wanted to go off campus for food, would only eat at McDonald's or Taco Bell. It was awful.
I never took the bus to the mall, so I'm not familiar with its schedule. Lunch at Plum Tree was very reasonable. You could get a bento box for $7-$10. Dinner was more expensive, but not too bad.
"You want to eat McDonald's, at Cornell?"
lol dont get the picture that im fat lol
i dunno for others, but for me, mcd is like my safety place to eat
if that makes sense lol
if you are visiting campus this summer things are going to look different than during the school year - try to find an open campus dining hall to eat at once during your visit - then perhaps eat somewhere in Collegetown - perhaps Collegetopwn bagels, perhaps downtown at Moosewood, world famous (honest) vegetarian restaurant - google it to found all the cookbooks that people buy...people who have otherwise never heard of Ithaca NY. These will give you some flavor of Cornell/Ithaca - eating at MacD's won't.
If you apply and get accepted, you will mostly eat Freshman year with your friends at the North Campus dining halls...and during the day on campus. Weekends might include all the other options the above posters recommend
as a student (im applying next year)
oh yea im def not planning on eating at restaurants every day. as you said, at most prob only weekends.
how are the foods at the dining halls?
