declaring a major for ED?

if i declare a major when im applying for ED will i be bound to that or can i still change major? and will declaring a major improve my chances of getting in?

If you are applying ED to CALS, ILR (only 1 major), Hotel, HumEc, or AAP, you are required to declare your major on your application.

Once you get in, you can change your major, just stop by your college's department and talk to an advisor about changing your major.

Also, if you apply to CAS, you won't be at a disadvantage if you select "undecided."

at CAS? but doesn't the major you choose determine which type of professor will review your app?

Don't know about that...the letters I got from CAS all seemed to encourage undecided students. But either way, it's not binding, so you can put down a major if you'd like.

If you're in CAS then make sure you make a convincing essay for whatever major you do declare but you are not binded in that choice at all.
