uhh someone want to "chance me"?

gonna be applying E.D. to CALS, maybe agriculture major.

ya i know i hate 'chance me' thread, but hell, i thought i'd make one

GPA
4.2 weighted. top GPA in class: around a 4.5
probably top 10% (school doesn't rank)

Relatively hard course load (AP Calc BC, AP German, AP Physics, Honors Anatomy, AP Biology last year, Honors Organic Chemistry last year)

Pittsburgh PA School
North Allegheny School District
graduating class of about 750

SATs
CR 680, M 760, W 780, 12 essay ---2200 total
took subject tests in bio, math 2, and chem just 2 weeks ago

EC/volunteer
1. Co-Founder of "Muslim Youth of Pittsburgh" which is a youth group in downtown pittsburgh
2. Founder of the WisdomNet Youth Group, a turkish cultural youth group that organizes a week-long cultural conference once a year
3. Hospital Volunteer
4. Tae Kwon Do - Red belt... and boxing with some Russian friends in my free time
5. three week internship at AVA holding in Istanbul, Turkey. it's a maritime/shipping company and i worked directly with the operations manager and projects advisor. learned a lot about upper management and the business world
6. Spend A LOT of my time in the garden and in planting trees/fruit/veggies and whatnot. i'll try to incorporate this into my essay.

School EC
FBLA member, won state and regional competitions
National Honor Society

Recommendations
One from AP bio teacher (should be aight, i was very involved in that class)
other from history teacher (hopefully it'll be okay, i've heard he's good at writing recs)
...i don't even know the name of my counselor, so that won't help much. at least cornell will understand that i go to to a big-as-hell public high school

Turkish Muslim, but Permanent resident, (if that means anything)

well since cornell has the best agricultural program in the nation, will that mean that the agriculture major specifically has a very low acceptance rate? i don't have direct interaction with agriculture (meaning that i don't live at a farm) but i do visit my grandpa's farm once every 2 years, i know a lot about plant sciences, and stuff like that.

will the plant sciences or agricultural sciences be harder to get into?

i'm pretty sure i can fit into either

You have a very solid chance...isn't your total SAT 2220? But yeah, it's not more competitive among CALS because there aren't too many applicants.

aight that makes sense, but does anyone think that my chances of admission will be lower because i live out of state and CALS is a contract college?
