Essay topic...which would be better?

Which essay would be better for the admissions process? Assuming they're equal in terms of how well written they are, an essay about Cornell or an essay about a personal passion, like playing an instrument?

can't you combine the two topics.
I'm not in cornell or anything, but in my opinion, I would say your passion is a better topic.

Isn't the more Cornell-oriented essay what the "Why the College of (Arts and Science, Hotel Management, whichever you're applying to)" essay?
