Boredom?

So, I loved, like LOVED, the campus!! I mean really, it was the perfect mix of modern and classic buildings. And I loved how self contained it was, unlike more of the other schools I've seen. The only problem is, I don't like just how far away it is from a big city. I know that Ithaca is nice, and Collegetown seemed great. But does it ever get boring all the way out in upstate New York?

I was born and raised in NYC, and I've never been bored up here in Ithaca! There are always lots of things to do on campus, and Ithaca isn't as "out-in-the-middle-of-nowhere" as it seems

Even the sheer beauty of the campus and surrounding area is refreshing to me. I might miss the skyscrapers and bright lights sometimes, but I'm never bored.

No, you're never bored. Too many kids, too much fun. Seriously, many kids I know "say" they'd like to be "near" a big city, but honestly never get off campus during their 4 years. If they do, they'd take a road trip. Go visit a friend on another campus. So, who cares that Ithaca is away from a big city. That's part of its charm.

Don't forget that we have malls in the shops of ithaca (including a regal theater) and a lot of people go see games during the weekends such as hockey. Oh, and there are parties of course

But..it would be much better if Cornell is located in NYC or nearby...

The fact that cornell is in a rural area means that we have collegetown. ****ing collegetown. An entire residential area dominated by college students (its pretty big). Realestate prices are "cheap" enough that i am renting a ****ing house next year with 5 other people, we have a full kitchen, living room, dining room, porch, 2 bathrooms, 3 floors, and a balcony, for only 600 bucks a month per person. I will be living like a KING next year. The frat houses here are ENORMOUS and BEAUTIFUL (at least most of them, especially Llenroc) and they throw nice parties. You cannot have this kind of experience in the city, at all. Its not boring here. There is SOOOOOO much stuff to do here. Living in the city would almost be a waste because you would be paying a premium for a thing (the city) you never use.

If you actually do things you like, you'll never be bored. And I mean, never.
Like, seriously. I wake up at 8 and sleep at 4 just about everyday, and if I'm not doing school work or some type of responsibility/meeting involving an extracurricular activity, I'm relaxing with friends, going to exercise, or sleeping so I can get back to other stuff.

I don't see how any of this would change if Cornell were surrounded by a city rather than beautiful nature. (For the record, I prefer the nature.)

If cornell were surrounded by a big city, there would be a lot less campus life. Schools like NYU or columbia, everybody just "goes to the city" for fun and campus is dead (or so I've heard). At Cornell, on campus events are well attended and the parties and bars are a lot more...cozy (for lack of a better word). You will not be bored. Cornell offers so much to do all the time, its hard to fit it all in!

I only feel Ithaca is "in the middle of nowhere" when I try to get out of it. That is the only pain about being here.
