NetID?

I submitted my ED application two weeks before it was due. Cornell cashed the check a few days after I mailed the app, but I haven't received an email confirming my app or a NetID. Should I be concerned, or does it take a while?

No worries.

You don't get a netID unless/until after you are accepted into Cornell, so don't worry about that. If they cashed your check, they more than likely have you on file. If you're still worried about it (I know how on-edge you feel waiting for a response), you should call the admissions office and ask if they have everything. Try not to wear yourself out, and good luck!

I submitted my app at 11:30 on Sunday night via Common App (you can submit up until 11:59 the day of the deadline) and got my applicant ID and application confirmation emails on Tuesday. So, yeah, I'd try to get to the bottom of that if I were you.

D sent her application via Common App Oct 24 and received a confirmation email from Cornell with her applicant ID on Oct 27th. I would def give the admissions office a call if you haven't received a confirmation and ID by now if you submitted the app weeks ago.

Thank you!
I'll definitely call someone tomorrow about it. Do you think it makes any difference that I mailed my app? Perhaps the online submission is faster to process?

I have always encouraged people to submit applications electronically. The reason is with a hard copy someone would have to create a record in the system manually, and that could take a while for a large school like Cornell. When my daughter applied to Duke a few years back, it was over their holiday break (a few days after xmas), within days she was contacted for an interview. Their computer system just automatically assigned her to an alum closest to our house.

OP - I wouldn't be surprised if your paperwork is still just sitting there waiting for someone to enter it into their database.
