Resume for Dance Major Audition

My daughter is going for an audition to Uof Arts, PA and they asked her to bring a resume. What should she include? How many dances she's done yearly? How many years? and/or what specific competitions she's been in and where she placed. Do she include groups or just solos/duos/trios?

I would focus on years of training (and in what dance forms), summer intensives (if she has done any), stage roles and notable teachers she has studied with. I don't think I would list competitions or specific dances. Maybe someone else will have another opinion, though.

HI. I know you have spent years in the comp world but colleges and conservatories are really not interested in that. The only thing I would put on a resume is if she won a title or national title. The rest they want to see what summer intensive they went to and what actual classes she took at her studio. How many years of each type. Also mention any workshops with famous people like desmond richardson or known choreographers. Any professional things she has done too. They really just want to see how well trained she is not how many trophies she won. College is really a different animal than the comp world. Good Luck.

My DD had to have different resumes for different programs when she was auditioning. One wanted all the years of dance training, the styles she had trained in and the teachers she had. Another wanted years of training, along with performances and awards. I would stay away from putting too much emphasis on the competition aspect. She was only one of a few in her college program to have been a "competition" dancer. With that said, she knew how to audition and pick up choreography quickly and that helped her. She is doing so well and loves her university. She attends Slippery Rock University. The program has been excellent and the professors are amazing and really care about their students and want them to succeed.

ZED Card

Can someone please tell me what positions should be on dance zed/comp card? My son wants to start sending his pictures out for auditions. Also how do I start a thread on this site under dance majors?
