| Interview!! does dartmouth only hold alumni interviews for people that they are seriously considering or do they interview as many applicants as possible? i just don't want to get my hopes up, especially since i consider dartmouth to be an EXTREMELY long shot. |

| I have no idea. I'm actually in the same situation you're in.
I REALLY want an interview because I'm serious about going to Dartmouth. ;-; |

| My impression is that they give a list of students to interview to the alumni in each region; it is up to the alumni to make contact. |

| Yeah, I'm pretty sure they try to interview as many people as possible. I don't think they only interview the best applicants. Hopefully the interview's not too important, though, because mine went terribly. |

| Its funny because they way I make conversation with all of my interviewers is the process of getting an interview, especially for me. An admission officer called me because she wanted to set up an interview but she said it was really hard. She hesitated to say why and I said because I live in the middle of no where and she laughed. We started talking for a bit and we set up a phone interview. Most of the interviews for me have been by phone because I live in the middle of nowhere and that is a great conversation starter. |

| The interview is definitely not too important. The day after I posted about how terrible my interview was, I received a "likely letter" from Dartmouth in the mail. I say don't stress about getting/doing an interview at all. |

| I don't understand...Most applicants are supposed to receive an interview from Dartmouth? If we didn't get one, does that mean we're most likely out of the running? Oh no this is horrible news! Does anyone know where to find the groups who contact prospective students? Or does anyone live in California and know if there is a group here? |

| google online for the local alumni club. I know that except for Yale and Penn, these clubs can be somewhat difficult to find out contact info for, but keep trying and call the admission office. |

| doesnt count much I seriously don't think the Dartmouth interview counts for anything at all. I think I'm the only one at my school who was not offered an interview, and yet I'm the only one so far to have received a likely letter |

| this is quite cute. My son received a PRE-acceptance letter the same day his interview was scheduled. He didnt find out of his acceptance until AFTER the interview!! The Dartmouth interviews were being done at my son's high school. 12-15 were scheduled!! |

| I got an alumni interview, but I'm RD. To be honest, I only applied for the hell of it. Then, I was at my interview in the Upper East Side's Cornell Medical School's residence hall and (the living area was crappy) I was really convinced when the alumni sold the school to me.
But still, my chances of getting into Dartmouth is are REALLY low. My essay was written with haste because a teacher told me that it would have to encompass a learning experience, when my essay was initially about the ideal life, such as having it all, and my prospects for the future as a page of my autobiography. Then, I heard originality was greatly prized and I was so ****ed!
Anyway, I think it was easy for me to get an alumni interview because I'm in NYC. |

| i think the alumni interview matters a great deal. when i had mine back in december, my interviewer told me that he wasn't given any academic stats about me and he wanted a copy of my application before we met for the interview. not everyone is interviewed. you will be contacted if an alumni lives in your area. i think my interview went beautifully because my interviewer told me that he loved what i talked about and he thought my essay was riveting. right now i am just waiting in anticipation. |

| I know you said "don't stress," but since you did have an interview, could you perhaps explain it a little? What your interviewer was like, etc? I know interviewers can be very different, but I'm very curious. |

| Hey!
I am international(RD). I had my Dartmouth Alumni interview in February and I would be safe in saying that I aced it. It was a pleasant experience. And the icing on the cake was the fact that the interviewer had majored in the same subject that I want to major in!! I just hope the interview carries weight in my admission decision..My SAT1/SAT 2 scores suck so i am kinda freaked out!
Fingers crossed!
And yeah the admission decision comes out on the 31st 5:00 pm EST.
I got a mail when I checked my Dartmouth Application Status. |
