Sorry to be yet another nervous senior...

Dartmouth is my dream school, but I'm terrified I won't get in. And everyone is probably sick of these stupid things, but I really want someone to tell me flat out how likely I am to get in.

IB Diploma Candidate
White/Female/Public High School

GPA: 97.4/100
Ranking: 8/400
SAT I: 2150 (CR 740 W 680 M 730)
SATII: Lit: 730, Math I 660, Math II 640 [abysmal, I know...]

Extra Curriculars:
Varsity Field Hockey since 9th
Summer Varsity Field Hockey Camps & Summer Leagues [8-12]
Varsity Indoor Track 9 & 10
National Honor Society Member 11 & 12
Tutor 11
Art Club, 9, 11 & 12
International Club 9 & 11
Dance: Ballet and Tap 9-11
Bakery Worker 12
Camp Counselor, Summer between 11 & 12

Volunteer Hours:
150 hours logged for IB CAS hours; 20+ Hours for NHS; 50+ unlogged, through church--Group Work Camp in MD, youth group hours

Awards:
Most Valuable Defensive Player-- FH, 12
2nd Team All-County-- FH, 11 & 12
East Coast Field Hockey Camp All-Star-- FH, summer between 11 & 12
Most Improved Player-- FH, 9
Scholar Athlete Award-- FH, 9-12; IT, 10, 11
2nd Place at District Art Show -- 11
Academic Merit all quarters of high school
School-wide Character Awards [9-11, various subjects]
Dartmouth Alumni Book Award [11]

Essay was pretty good; recommendations were also pretty good.

Thank you so much in advance!

You're in the chase, but a higher SAT honestly would really help.

Will you be recruited for field hockey? If not, I don't know how much it would help your admissions.

don't let the idiots above discourage you in any way. they have NO basis for their comments other than their own misconceptions about how the process actually works. One thing for sure - you will have 0% chance of getting in if you don't try. And given that nothing is guaranteed, just make sure you REALLY look at other schools too. I say this as both a Dartmouth Grad and someone who spent many years working for Harvard.

Did I say she shouldn't apply? In fact, you have said nothing in your post that contradicted mine, nor do you have any basis to call me an idiot, aside from sheer arrogance.

Those stats look great, in my opinion. As far as someone else's comment on the SAT score, a 1470 is pretty damn high -- you're definitely in the range in terms of Dartmouth's statistics according to the Princeton Review.

Weighing in

I completely agree with Bristolstomp. I think sneamia is pompous and nasty and has no right to voice such a nasty, derogatory opinion against another individual. That could be the worst post ever. I am going to come out and say that i think sneamia should be permanently banned from college confidential and should never, ever right another post. Thanks a lot sneamia for ruining mah steeze.

You never know...u seem like a good contender.

However I had basically the same stats as you, I was an full IB student, lots of extra curriculars, fairly good SATs...

And I was rejected from Cornell and from Northwestern...

For the record, I was rejected from Dartmouth, however I am attending Cornell University next semester and I'm very pleased with that =]
