| Waitlisted?
Hey,
I got waitlisted yesterday, and wanted to know who else was out there that was in the same situation? Dartmouth is my absolute first-choice, my dream school, and the suspense I will be experiencing for the next two months or so is absolutely torturous!

My advise is to seriously prepare yourself for being rejected. Even though 771 of the 1381 waitlisted students were accepted last year. This seems like a cheery statistic but for your own sanity try to develop your other options fully.

I agree. No argument there. I'd rather think I don't get in and get in rather than the other way around!

| Waitlisted
I was waitlisted to Dartmouth as well. I was not accepted to any other Ivy Leagues, but I was accepted into Middlebury College. I am still unsure as to where I will go to school and I intend to stay on the Dartmouth wait list.

If you truly want to go to Dartmouth make sure the admission department knows that. Send a letter stating why you want to go to Dartmouth (similar philosophy, classes, etc.) and that it's still your first choice. If it's applicable it wouldn't hurt to say you don't need financial aid, especially this year!

Note - the figure 771 represents the number of students out of 1381 students offered a place on the waitlist for the class of 2011 who accepted a place on that waitlist. In the end, for that year, no students were taken off the waitlist. Last year, 41 students who comprise the class of 2012 came from the waitlist, but likely a larger number were offered spots - the waitlist situation last year was unusually unpredictable and many schools dug deeper than they typically do. No way to tell if this year will be similar to last year, or more similar to previous years, but in any event, the number of offers off the waitlist will not be anywhere near as high as 771. Which is why the advice to embrace other options is good advice.

Good news, sort of... a friend of mine was also waitlisted. She has decided to go to wake forest. That's one less applicant to worry about. Besides, Wake Forest is a good school.

I was so sad when I was waitlisted at Dartmouth... but I will keep trying.
So good luck to everyone.
It looked like no one was admitted from the waiting list last year but since most of Dartmouth's accepted students probably got accepted to every Ivy League... I guess we have a chance. They will probably choose Princeton, MIT, or Harvard over Dartmouth but you never know.

I was also waitlisted. I feel stuck, like I am almost in but not quite. It feels horrible.

Yep, same here.
I'm enrolling at wither Montclair State or Rutgers for now, depending on the package.
And then, if I never get off that wait-list, I'll try transferring after Freshman year.

It says in the article that 60 people were already sent stuff admitting them off the wait list... and I have a hunch most of them will say yes... so I guess this is the end of the Dartmouth wait list journey.

I was accepted off the wait list last Thursday... two days after receiving the "status of the waiting list" email!
