Dartmouth vs Rice

I've looked at both schools and have always leaned Rice just cause I plan on studying engineering and Rice is known for its engineering while Dartmouth is not. However, I love both schools in terms of life and feel. But I've been thinking recently (deadline is 6 days away so of course i start thinking) that since Dartmouth is an Ivy, is might be better when looking at it in the long run. It has the name and also the alumnus network. But i still don't know if that would beat out a Rice education when comes to engineering. Meaning that if future employers, whatever, see an application from Rice and an application from Dartmouth they would pick the Rice one (for an engineering job).

Cold weather or warm weather?

I have friends at both and each loves his school. I don't think you can go wrong, academically. They're both outstanding and recognized nationally as fantastic universities. At this point, it probably comes down to which one you think is a better match for you.

dartmouth's thayer engineering school is the first engineering school. I think you'd be surprised at our undergrad job placement record. Our graduate students aren't nearly as good tho and hence the lack of reputation.
