Applying for class of 2014 RD, guidance counselor tells me I have no chance, what do you think?

GPA: 4.0 unweighted

- NCTE Writing Award for Juniors
- Attended an Advanced Studies Program at a local private school this summer (received awards for superior performance in Astronomy and Writing Workshop)

You are right in the middle of the mix. Perfect GPA, very good SATs, decent amount of APs, very good awards.

I can only assume that you attend a public school, as my son does, and that this "counselor" has tenure. He/she is a boob, just like my son's "counselor".

Oh, and when it's all settled, send a detailed letter to whoever is in charge of the counselors. Let them know that this person tried to quash your dream instead of encouraging you.

Definitely apply. No idea why you're counselor says you have no chance. You're right in the middle of the pack, maybe even slightly higher, so RD is a perfectly good decision.
