| I think Melo has been accepted to every school on this board! with as much time as he spends on here, it's no wonder his scores aren't higher!! Ouch... |

| Early Write letters equate acceptances, oui? I'm quite psyched.
So, because I want to procrastinate... My stats:
SAT I: 800 Critical Reading, 800 Writing, 660 Math (I can't count, honestly)
SAT IIs: 800 Spanish, 770 U.S. History, 740 Literature
Rank: 1 out of 124
APs: AP Scholar with Distinction; by the end of the year, I'll have completed eleven courses.
Teacher Recs: We're not allowed to see them, but I assume they were stellar. Pre-slacker days, I was a favorite.
Counselor Rec: Again, we're not allowed to read recommendations. Nevertheless, I hope it was pretty good.
Interview: Excellent.
Extracurriculars: I'm a member of a number of clubs, and I'm captain of the school's Knowledge Bowl team, as well as Chief Editor and co-founder of the school's newspaper. I do a lot of swimming in my free time.
Hook: I'm passionate about journalism-- I was an intern at La Prensa, my country's largest newspaper, and I worked with a USA Today correspondent on a feature story about Daniel Ortega. I'm currently hammering out a story on female convicts, again for La Prensa.
Essays: I wrote one about being an odd duckling in my AP English Lit. class (I was a fourteen-year-old sophomore who had been accelerated into a previously all-senior class.) The other essay was about my experiences with the USA Today correspondent-- following Ortega's campaign trail, the interview itself, etc. My father was jailed by Ortega during the Sandinista regime, so meeting Ortega was a strong emotional and intellectual experience.
Location: In case it wasn't obvious-- Managua, Nicaragua, of Iran-Contra infamy.
Other Thoughts: I have a really wry sense of humor, and I can be obnoxiously cheery. |
