Oh How the Tables Have Turned Fartmouth

I applied ED and got rejected, however, yesterday when I opened my mailbox I saw a big acceptance letter (which makes no sense because my school probably didn't send the first semester grades to Dartmouth). Now it is my turn to reject Dartmouth, because I got into Williams which after much consideration is a better fit for me. Has this happened to anyone else (they reject you when they really meant to differ you)?

Decision: Accepted

Objective:
  • SAT I (breakdown): Verbal 570, Math 600, Writing 630
  • ACT: 25 composite 12 essay
  • SAT II: 590, 600, 610
  • Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 4.0
  • Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): 1
  • AP (place score in parenthesis): Calc AB, Bio, Lit&Comp, Chem, Stats (did not submit any scores)
  • IB (place score in parenthesis): none
  • Senior Year Course Load: Most difficult.
  • Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): President's Gold Service Award, Prudential Spirit of Community Award
Subjective:
  • Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): Student Council (Student Body Pres, Junior Pres, Soph Rep), Interact (VP 2 years), KIDS FIRST (reasurer/co-nder), lots of others.... lots
  • Job/Work Experience: Internship at Gearge K. Baum & Company, Investment Banking
  • Volunteer/Community service: 2,000+
  • Summer Activities: Loads, and by loads, I mean loads. (Many conferences)
*] Essays: I thought they were pretty good =), unique and about my passion for using music as an international vernacular.
  • Teacher Recommendation: I liked them, but I don't know how to rate them.
  • Counselor Rec: My principal wrote it.
  • Additional Rec: Mayor Pro Tem of my city.
  • Interview: Great =)
Other
  • State (if domestic applicant): Colorado
  • School Type: Public, non-competitive lol
  • Ethnicity: Spanish and Mexican
  • Gender: Male
  • Income Bracket: <100K
  • Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): URM
Reflection
  • Strengths: I would also have to say my EC's were unique. (founded KIDS FIRST, campaign committee to pass a $78 million bond in my school district to build new high school/community college).... it passed.
  • Weaknesses: SAT/ACT
  • Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Because God wanted it that way =)
General Comments: I'm very happy with the way all of my decisions turned out. I was accepted to Brown and Dartmouth, and wailtlisted at Yale and rejected from Harvard. All of which were made in the best interest of my future and I'm very happy. I never thought I'd even apply to these schools. =) THANK GOD!
