Hey, I posted this in the other forums as well, please share your thoughts.

I just got responses from all my colleges today, and the verdicts are:

Rejected from: Swarthmore and Princeton
Waitlisted by: Williams
Accepted to: Connecticut College, Colgate, University of Minnesota-Twin Cities (Honors Program with substantial merit money), Amherst, Dartmouth (likely letter), and Notre Dame (Accepted EA and applied to Honors Program)

I've got it pretty much narrowed down to three schools: Amherst, Dartmouth, and Notre Dame (if I am accepted to the Honors Program)

I've been compiling a list of pros and cons for each school which I will post later, but for now, what are everyone's thoughts on the three schools? (The "follow your heart" advice wouldn't be very helpful at the moment as my heart is currently very conflicted....)

I plan to major in biochemistry/biology and minor in Chinese. I would also like to keep the possibility of applying to medical school open and I hope to study abroad in China at some point in college. Thanks for your help!

My D was admitted to both Amherst and Dartmouth. You will find that there is a lot of overlap between the 2 schools and you will not be at a loss of meeting students who are choosing between Dartmouth and Amherst or Dartmouth and Williams. Maybe Chriscuber can weigh in on ND.

Both are really great schools, As you know Amherst does have the 5 college consortium with (Mt holyoke, UMass, Hampshire and smith). What I have found is that it can sometimes be hetic coordinating classes at the other schools with their bus schedule. While she did love Amherst, she said that when visiting both schools, you really do feel the difference between 2000 kids and 4000 kids so in the end while she wanted a small school, she felt that Amherst was just too small.

You know at Dartmouth you would have the opportunity to study abroad at their program in Beijing. You can go as early as summer at the end of your freshman year.

For Pre-med advising there is the Nathan Smith Society which will give you a lot of information about the pre-med process.

You should definitely look in to WISP (women in science program). D roommate was a WISP intern freshman year and said that it was an amazing experience.

You will get the opportunity to work at the medical center freshman year (if you desire). D worked as a research assistant at the medical center freshman year.

If you are torn between schools think that you should definitely attend dimensions along with visiting Amherst and ND, visit the departments, talk to the department chairs to see what school meets your needs.

Lol, thanks, Irish- after you successfully turned the thread in the Amherst forum pro-Notre Dame- see if that gets the Dartmouth people to speak up
