| the marching band's not really a marching band, since they don't actually march.
like every other band in the ivy league (save cornell), the band is a scatter band, meaning they form shapes on the field in conjunction with a quasi-humorous narration via the PA system. The band plays 3-4 songs of ~1 min on the field during halftime.
The quality of the band is alright ... it's not the best marching band ever, but there are a bunch of quality musicians in it - a lot of members play in the Wind Symphony, the Barbary Coast (jazz), or play winds in an orchestra on campus as well.
The band always has fun, because the band always wins. Also, it's a really eclectic bunch of kids, so you get a lot of different inputs. |
