Decisions?

Does anyone know the exact date that Part I decisions will come out? On the website, it says that they're released during the second week in December... I guess that's this week? And are the decisions sent by post or by e-mail? Thanks so much- and good luck to everyone!

Hmm, now I feel kinda out of the loop. I didn't get an e-mail... oh well. REJECTED, haha. I feel you on the essays, Yuri.

My guess is for Wednesday (in the past 2 years the phone calls have started on the 13th). I suppose that this is technically the 3rd week of December.

Interesting- that is very cool. I guess that's a luxury that comes with having only 200 applicants! Thanks so much ReJoyce for that info. Good luck to you guys!

Thank-you! I've been rehearsing for quite a while as to what I'll say when I get that much elusive phone call. I was thinking about a little nod to Edmund, "Aha! God really does stand up for bastards!" What do you think? Oh well, I'm fairly confident that I won't find the occasion anyway.

Your response is cheeky, I like it. I'll assume I'm getting rejected- and will pretend for a moment that they'll call me nonetheless, and will quote from Anna Karenina, and will say "All well, I shall not succumb to that 'eternal error people make in imagining that happiness is the realization of desires,' and so will be content in this momentous decision."

Do you think they would change their minds right then and there? I sort of think they absolutely would.

The number of lurkers on this board is quite astonishing. One post seems to precipitate many previously unknown "faces" out of the proverbial woodwork.

On a completely unrelated note, who else is struggling through Against the Day? Exams have torn me away from it, but we shall be reunited once more!

Well Grammercy to all in the coming week- I, too, dream of reaching for my phone to see "Big Pine, Ca" on the caller ID screen...

Yes, I too am tussling with that dread bohemoth...Lordy, it's long! But I spent 6 hours at Pioneer Square cadging enough money (I think it was $25 at Powell's) to purchase it, so I'm sort of obligated. I also managed to get a Durrenmatt play.

1100 pages of aesthetic goodness.

The characters' names are all so..erm..unique. Scarsdale Vibe, Webb Traverse and my favorite Pugnax.

And how in God's name did you manage to get $25 from the people at Pioneer Sqaure?

I still liked Oedipa Maas more. Wasn't nearly as recondite, but maybe being recondite isn't such a frightful vice.

What's pioneer square?

And I haven't made a very valiant effort, not yet, to read Pynchon. I'm of too weak will.

There's a large square in downtown Portland, OR where lots of hopped up yuppies lurk. Actually, I got $5 from my friend at Powell's--he appreciated my "The Wandering Jew needs a hitch" sign
