Round Two!

I got a call this evening from the Deep Springs admissions committee this evening... I made it to round two of the application! Maybe I'll see some of you guys later this winter?

God hates me I'm going to go play the piano (thinking about some Satie) and commiserate for a while...

Monsieur, which student called you? I was called by Toby Altman.

The reason I ask is that Toby told me he just had a list of six (of the 40) names. If they're dividing it up that way, that's seven guys with lists. I can't imagine they'd all get all their calls done in one day.

Last year the calls were spread over two days, according to the old thread.

my dad woke me up at 6 this morning and told me i had a call. And i got through to round 2! For a crazy second i thought id actually gotten in outright and i was like screaming AMAZING through the phone, but then the 4 essays hit me and oh well... it still cant possibly dampen the euphoria.

the person who called me was called Mark btw...

Quite ironically, I was called by Mr. Michael Lubin while printing of the directions to my Harvard interview today. Needless to say this interview has lost all importance to me.

congrats to all

hey all

first of all, congrats to everyone who is into part two!

im a junior in high school right now and i am extremely interested in deep springs. im one of the lurkers who has stealthily been eating up every piece of information the thread has to offer about this incredible-looking school.

im just worried about whether or not i will be competitive if and when i apply to deep springs next year. im a pretty solid student at a huge, competitive high school. ive read (on this thread) that deep springs will focus more on essays than GPA, but im wondering how true that is. if the focus was heavily on essays, then i feel like i could really have a shot.

basically, im wondering if anyone was willing to post their stats, whether or not they got into part two. also, did you guys put a lot of time into the essays? is it like having an extra course? id really appreciate any info, and it would help me be realistic about where im applying next year.

cheers.

who doesn't like a movie?

not really sure if this contributes to a greater understanding of the college ona whole...but at least it gives you a glimpse of the campus (and what "free time" on said campus really entails...)

ps: is anyone else having problems w/ a marked up term paper? my school doesn't require them and my lit professor hasn't assigned anything that merits 3-8 pages...
